Congress yesterday passed an extension of the closing deadline for the home buyer tax credit and the Senate passed a renewal of the National Flood Insurance Program. (The House passed flood renewal last week.) The measures are law once they're signed by President Obama. With the tax credit extension, buyers with contracts submitted by April 30 have until September 30 to close their deals to be eligible for the tax credits. Under flood insurance renewal, the program is reinstated until September 30 (and would be retroactive to May 31). For details on both measures, start with the NAR press release.
